Donate Furniture in Chilliwack

Raba Thrift Store accepts selected furniture — small tables, chairs, shelves, desks, and accent pieces. Send us a photo on WhatsApp first and we'll confirm before you load anything up. We never take mattresses, sofas, or beds.

Furniture? Send us a photo first

We take selected furniture only — what we can accept depends on size, condition, and what we already have on the floor. Send a photo on WhatsApp and we'll confirm before you load anything up.

Include a rough size and mention any marks or damage. We reply during store hours — Open 10 AM – 7 PM, 7 days a week.

What furniture does Raba Thrift Store take?

Furniture falls into three buckets at Raba Thrift Store: pieces we can usually take, four categories we can never take, and everything in between — which we confirm by photo before you make the trip. A piece being big is not on its own a no.

Usually yes

Small, hard-surface pieces we can move and sell fast.

  • Small dining tables and kitchen tables
  • Dining chairs and accent chairs
  • Shelving units and bookcases
  • Desks and small office furniture
  • Nightstands and end tables
  • Small accent pieces and stands
  • Lamps and lighting fixtures
  • Wall art, mirrors, and framed prints

Always no

The only automatic no's — four categories, plus anything broken or water-damaged. Please don't bring these to the store.

  • Mattresses of any size
  • Box springs and bed frames
  • Sofas, couches, and sectionals
  • Beds and headboards
  • Broken or water-damaged pieces (any size)

Ask first

Big pieces included. Depends on size, condition, and the floor space we have that week — send a photo.

  • Dressers and chests of drawers, any size
  • Armoires and wardrobes
  • Entertainment units and wall units
  • Cabinets, sideboards, and hutches
  • Coffee tables and larger dining tables
  • Office chairs and stools
  • Patio and outdoor furniture
  • Anything not on the other two lists

Not sure which bucket your piece is in? Treat it as ask first and send a photo. Large dressers, armoires, wardrobes, entertainment units and patio furniture all live in that bucket — we might have to say no for size or floor space, but we would rather look at the photo than turn away a piece we could have sold.

Why can't you take every piece of furniture?

Raba Thrift Store is one storefront on Yale Road, not a warehouse. We can only take furniture we have room to display and a realistic chance of reselling — so what we can accept genuinely changes week to week depending on what is already on the floor.

That is exactly why a big piece is an ask first, not an automatic no. A large dresser or armoire we have no room for this week may be an easy yes next week. The only four categories we turn down every single time are mattresses, box springs, sofas and couches, and beds — everything else starts with a photo.

Floor space is the real limit

A sofa eats the same floor space as several racks of clothing. Small, hard-surface pieces sell faster and let us keep taking donations from everyone else.

It depends on what's already in stock

If we already have four bookcases, we can't take a fifth this week — but we might next week. That's exactly why we check the photo before you drive over.

We would rather tell you no in a WhatsApp message than turn you away at the door with a loaded truck. If we can't take a piece, we'll say so straight away so you can find it another home.

Furniture Donation FAQs

Do thrift stores take couches?
Raba Thrift Store does not take couches or sofas — that includes sectionals and loveseats. Upholstered seating takes up most of our sales floor, is hard to clean, and is slow to resell. We do take small tables, chairs, shelves, desks, and accent pieces once we've confirmed them by photo.
Do you take mattresses?
No. Raba Thrift Store never accepts mattresses or box springs, for hygiene and safety reasons — this is a hard no with no exceptions. Your local recycling depot or municipal disposal site is the right place for mattress disposal in Chilliwack.
Do you take large dressers, armoires, or entertainment units?
Ask first — these are not an automatic no at Raba Thrift Store. Send a photo on WhatsApp to (778) 551-2023 with a rough size and we'll confirm. We may have to decline a piece for its size or because the floor is already full that week, but we would rather look at the photo than turn away furniture we could have sold. The only furniture we refuse every time is mattresses, box springs, sofas and couches, and beds.
Do you pick up furniture?
Yes. Once we've confirmed your piece by photo, Raba Thrift Store picks it up free, 7 days a week, anywhere from Chilliwack to Abbotsford — including Sardis, Yarrow, Cultus Lake, Sumas, and Matsqui. There is no fee and no minimum.
How do I know if you'll take my furniture?
Send a photo on WhatsApp to (778) 551-2023 and we'll confirm before you load anything up. Include a rough size and note any marks or damage. We reply during store hours, 10 AM to 7 PM, 7 days a week.
Do you pay for furniture?
No — furniture is donation only at Raba Thrift Store. We do buy clothing: we pay cash by weight, and the rate depends on the quality of what you bring, so we can't quote a price on those either without seeing them first.

Donating more than furniture?

Raba Thrift Store also takes clothing, shoes, books, electronics, housewares, and vintage finds — no photo check needed for those. Have clothes to sell rather than donate? We pay cash by weight — the rate depends on the quality of what you bring. Walk in during store hours. No appointment needed.
